The Riviera Alexandria, an independent living community under construction in Alexandria, Va., aims to meet growing demand for luxury senior living in a walkable, urban setting with access to culture, nature, and healthcare. The 233,500-square-foot community delivers on that need with spacious residences featuring one and two bedrooms, an abundance of natural light, and elevated finishes and curated amenities such as multiple branded dining venues, a spa, rooftop terrace, fitness center, and private theater, along with personalized services including concierge support.
Scheduled to open in 2026, the 7-story building will include 140 residential units. The project draws inspiration from its waterfront setting and urban surroundings, while expansive windows, layered textures, and abundant natural light contribute to a sense of openness and calm, creating an atmosphere that feels both elegant and inviting.
To support aging in place for residents, design elements include wide, well-lit corridors, step-free thresholds, and high-contrast finishes. Overlooking the Potomac River, the site inspired a calming color palette featuring muted blues, gentle grays, warm neutrals, and brushed metallics to create a calming, water-influenced atmosphere.
