MEET MYLES: THE TECHNOPHILE!

GETTING TO KNOW MYLES

Vancouver.jpg

Varied tastes and interests, a wide array of talents and skills, and dedication that take him the extra “Myles,” this FDG Project Manager is a man of many successes. Graduating from Kansas State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, Myles found his way to Faulkner Design Group in the summer of 2015. The FDG team recognized Myles’ incredible eye for design and his outgoing, driven personality right from the start. Over the past five years, Myles has utilized his experience to thrive as an interior designer. He has been instrumental in creating multifamily and senior living environments that transcend even the newest, most cutting-edge communities.

Myles’ love for technology has kept him updated on the latest and greatest inventions surfacing the globe. He even traveled to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the beginning of 2020 to get a head start on what fresh, new technology could be incorporated into the upcoming FDG projects to make life simpler for residents and staff alike. With Myles’ fascination with all things technology related, it’s no wonder Myles has dubbed himself “The Technophile.”

HOMETOWN

Overland Park, KS
Originally born in Morgan City, LA, Myles reluctantly admits that Overland Park is where he calls home. Listed as the second largest city in Kansas, Overland Park has a multitude of quaint, kid-friendly tourist attractions, including Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, and a variety of museums.

BEHIND HIS DESIGNS

Hours spent creating families, homes, environments with The Sims game catapulted Myles into the world of interior design, a hobby he continues to this day. Myles enjoyed taking the generic, in-game houses and redesigning the interiors to fit his desire, and even space-planned a scale drawing of his own bedroom in middle school. However, Myles didn’t fully realize his love for design and the ability to put it to work in the real world until he reached college. Given the sound advice from a friend, Myles was able to hone his interests and come to the conclusion that interior design was the way to go, more specifically, Kansas State University’s incredible interior design program. Conducting his own thorough research into the highly ranked university, Myles applied to the program that night and the rest was history.

Seeing all of the years of hard work come to fruition is a trademark favorite of any designer, and Myles is no exception. He enjoys working with his hands and the fast-paced activity that accompanies any install. So far, his favorite was a multi-family property in Seattle, WA, with designer, Cameron. After the installation was completed the two were able to explore the beautiful surrounding area.

The Forward

With five company Forwards under his belt so far, Myles is always looking ‘forward’ to the next one. Spending time with the FDG family through team building exercises and learning a lot about the firm and the industry is always a bonus. Myles’ favorite thus far has been the 2018 Forward at Choctaw with a unique rock n’ roll theme to accompany the unexpected Kid Rock concert that FDG attended.

FAVORITE SONG

“99 Luftballoons”

As Myles’ favorite song, performed by his favorite musician, Nena, this German pop song never fails to energize Myles. As a Nena mega-fan, Myles was able to attend one of her concerts and meet this incredible artist. (See the photo-gallery below for Myles’s Magical Moment with this musical icon.)

FAVORITE MOVIE

“Terminator 2: Judgement Day”

Myles’ love for “The Terminator” sequel comes for the film’s epic storyline brought to life through intense action scenes and cutting-edge visual effects for the time. Hid favorite character is Sarah Conner, as she transforms from a meek, innocent waitress to an incredible, fierce woman.

FAVORITE BOOK

“Dune”

This Frank Herbert Sci-Fi has stolen the title for Myles’ favorite book. Identifying with the main character, Paul, Myles sees “Dune” as a coming-of-age story that he could relate to when learning to be independent. Myles is excited for the new movie to come out in 2021.

FAVORITE MEAL

Pizza

“Could eat it every day. Literally the perfect meal.”
- Myles

Though he favors Pizza Hut’s large, hand-tossed pizza with extra sauce and pepperoni, Mules would be happy with any pizza he can sink his teeth into.

FAVORITE HOLIDAY

New Year’s Eve

While everyone is anticipating the end of 2020, Myles has always enjoyed New Year’s Eve and all of its festivities. Gathering with close friends, grabbing a drink, dancing the night away, and reflecting back on the year is a must for Myles during his New Year’s Eve celebration.

FAVORITE HOBBY

Building LEGOs

Though playing video games is tied for first as Myles’ favorite hobby, building LEGOs takes the cake. While Myles no longer designs and builds his own creations, he finds pride in other pieces he’s built and collected through the years, including the Apollo Saturn V Rocket.

Not only does Myles enjoy making friends quickly and easily, he’s also one of the best at it.

Ambidextrous

Naturally left-handed, Myles’ tough-love grandma encouraged him to use his right hand when learning how to write. Now, Myles is able to utilize both of his hands to be the ultimate multitasker.
