SOMETHING ABOUT MARY PAT

Coming to FDG with her positive attitude and vibrant, motivated, and passionate personality, Mary Pat has been a highly valued member of the team since the summer of 2016. Her dedicated leadership and unwavering initiative are just two of the many skills that she has brought to the table. Mary Pat’s ability to create unique environments is further enhanced by her venerable education from Louisiana State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Interior Design and a minor in Graphic Design.

Well versed in the ever-changing art of design, she has utilized her knowledge of cutting-edge materials and products during her time at FDG to create stunning, unparalleled communities that enrich the lives of the residents. Receiving a commendation as Distinguished Communicator from the Office of Academic Affairs as a member of the exclusive and sought-after LSU Distinguished Communicator Program, she has brought a new sense of camaraderie and communication to the FDG team.

Mary Pat’s willingness to lead and communicate efficiently with the FDG team led to her nomination to be part of FDG’s committee to revamp the company’s core values to better represent the team and the community. Mary Pat has since been dubbed “The Communicator” for her unprecedented ability to speak up and bring ideas to fruition.

HOMETOWN

Dallas, TX

Though her home away from home will always be Baton Rouge, LA, Mary Pat’s interests have spawned from her upbringing in the cultured city of Dallas. Activities including heated and passionate football games to strolling the bustling city streets in search of unique architecture and designs can found within the heart of downtown.

Mary Pat’s passion for design stems from her family’s long line of designers and commercial real estate professionals that exposed her to the growing development in Dallas from a young age. As a decisive person, it’s easy for Mary Pat to make decisions and go after what she wants, which translates to her work with FDG when selecting the perfect furnishings, finishes, and overall designs for each environment. As a skillful listener, Mary Pat understands her clients’ objectives and intentions and seamlessly tailors each design to fulfill and surpass the desires of each client to bring their vision to life.

FAVORITE PROJECT

Atria Waldwick

As the first project Mary Pat worked on out of college, she was privy to every stage of the design process, working alongside and learning from Senior Project Manager, Nicole. After three years of learning, planning, coordination and creating an incredible senior living community, Mary Pat was able to see their vision come to fruition during the project’s installation in November 2019.

Selecting Finishes

Every designer thrives on the exhilaration and excitement of starting a new project and Mary Pat is no different. She adores working through the design plans to create unique and highly functioning spaces with versatility to adhere to the client’s needs. Finishes are the base of each room and Mary Pat’s vast knowledge and understanding of available materials on the market makes pulling for each project all the more exciting.

 

SEASON

MUSIC

“Callin’ Baton Rouge”

While “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” by Brooks & Dunn is a childhood favorite, Mary Pat admits there’s nothing “like singing ‘Callin’ Baton Rouge’ at the top of your lungs with 100,000 of your closest friends on a Louisiana Saturday night in the cathedral of college football,” better known as Tiger Stadium.

 

MOVIE

“The Sandlot”

Though “You’ve Got Mail,” “McLintock,” “For the Love of the Game,” and “Rudy” were close runners up, “The Sandlot” holds a special place in Mary Pat’s heart. She identifies with Scotty Smalls who shares a passion for friendship and team work, and finds success in turning that passion into a career.

College Football Season

As an avid LSU fan and SEC football fanatic, Mary Pat never misses a game and dons her purple and gold whenever she can. In close second is Louisiana’s Carnival Season which encompasses the atmosphere and camaraderie of football season, but with strangers, soon-to-be friends.

 

TV SHOW

“Songland”

Filled with “pure talent” and “creative genius,” Mary Pat looks forward to “Songland” each week and revels in the music, competition, and success of each participant. While “The Real Housewives of New York” is easily Mary Pat’s guilty pleasure, “Songland” takes the cake by providing some of her best go-to summer songs.

 

PODCAST

“Absolutely Not” by Heather McMahan

Mary Pat is a long-time fan of McMahan, following her success and career through Instagram. When McMahan began her own podcast musing about her daily life and rising career, Mary Pat was hooked instantly.

DESTINATION

The Lake

Being on the water takes Mary Pat to her happy place. As a camper at Camp Nakanawa on Lake Aloaloa, she watched the glorious sunsets each summer for 10 years. When she wasn’t at camp, Mary Pat could be found with her fishing club in east Texas.

HOBBY

People Watching

Katy Trail Ice House provides Mary Pat’s favorite outpost to observe the unique and always amusing residents of Dallas. She’s even spent hours watching a man pass on roller blades, performing meticulous routines for the Ice House customers.

JOKE

“You Might Be a Redneck if…”

Jeff Foxworthy inspired Mary Pat’s own performance when she emceed the annual Faulkner Talent Show during the company Forward, channeling her inner Foxworthy with “You Might Work at Faulkner if…”

In her spare time, Mary Pat has worked with respected women’s organizations in Dallas as Underwriting Chair and Silent Auction Chair to raise over $120,000 for local charities including Jonathan’s Place and Folds of Honor - North Texas. Her lively personality and passion for design attributed to her award for Faulkner Design Group’s “Newcomer of the Year” in 2016 and named her the inaugural “Most Outstanding Team Member” in 2017. Working towards her NCIDQ/TBAE certification, Mary Pat seizes every opportunity to learn more about the industry, create a sense of community at FDG, and become the best designer in the business.

Fishing

“I can bait, hook, catch, clean, and cook what I catch.” - Mary Pat

Mary Pat’s affinity for fishing has sent her on many adventures, including a deep sea fishing trip during Spring Break where she caught a 3 lb Sheephead fish, and a fly fishing trip in Colorado along the Eagle River.
