Interior Designer

Position Description

The Designer role is an upper entry-level position for professionals with demonstrated design and project coordination experience. Reporting to a Team Leader - Senior Interior Designer, Senior Project Manager, or Senior Architectural Designer. You will take ownership of assigned project components, coordinate directly with vendors and consultants, and support the mentorship of junior team members. This role emphasizes independence, technical proficiency, and professional maturity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine design concepts and lead the preparation of presentation materials.

  • Take ownership of portions of space planning, finish selection, and FF&E documentation.

  • Produce and coordinate construction documents in Revit with minimal oversight, ensuring compliance with FDG standards.

  • Participate in construction administration by attending site visits, preparing field reports, and coordinating RFIs/submittals.

  • Prepare detailed FF&E budgets, layouts, selections, and specifications aligned with project goals.

  • Coordinate directly with consultants, manufacturers, contractors, and fabricators.

  • Support and occasionally lead client and consultant meetings, preparing notes and follow-ups.

  • Review and check documentation prepared by Designer I or interns.

  • Manage scheduling, task planning, and hours to ensure deliverables align with project fees.

  • Actively seek solutions to design and project challenges, bringing forward ideas that advance project success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design or architecture from an accredited program.

  • 1–5 years of professional design experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in Revit and familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Photoshop, and InDesign.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must have access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and ability to travel by air.

  • Comfortable working on construction sites and in unconditioned environments.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods.

  • Up to 10% travel nationwide can be expected.
